Via Isthmus, the Madison weekly, the latest example of GOP overreach and, perhaps, desperation.

Dane County District Attorney Ismael Ozanne told the newspaper he had received calls from Gov. Walker supporters urging him to bring criminal charges against the 14 Senate Democrats who have fled the state rather than allow Walker's "budget repair" bill to pass. Ozanne says he will not do so, as there was no violation of law.

Meanwhile, Dane County Sheriff Dave Mahoney said that state officials asked for his help in holding protesters away from Capitol access. He retorted: "My deputies will not be palace guards," Mahoney said the request was a possible violation of the restraining order against closing the Capitol, issued earlier in the day.  [URL below]

The Isthmus posting came after two GOP legislators two legislators began circulating a bill Monday that would ban making trick calls masking the caller’s true identity. -- just like the phone call that Gov. Walker took from a blogger posing as billionaire David Koch.

Do Republicans any longer have any grasp on reason, diplomacy and working across the aisle to get things done in a responsible way? Evidently not. Their main strategy increasingly appears to be: If you can't beat 'em, make what they did illegal, or, failing that, just yell that it is illegal.
