That idea that former Rep. Dave Obey should come out of retirement to run against Gov. Scott Walker in a recall election? It seemed goofy on its face. And it was.


Clearly, Bill Dixon, who dreamed up the idea, was not floating a trial balloon on Obey's behalf. Obey has decided to make some money, trading on his expertise, conections, and influence after 42 years in the House. Politico has the story:


Former House Appropriations Chairman David Obey is walking the well-worn path between Capitol Hill and K Street, POLITICO has learned.

 


Obey will join former House Democratic leader Dick Gephardt’s lobbying shop on Monday, bringing a master of the federal funding process on board at a time of renewed economic austerity on Capitol Hill.
