Econ 101 Professor Johnson: "Less Than A Million People Get Paid the Minimum Wage"

That's what Ron Johnson said at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, intimating that the minimum wage was a non-issue.

I have no idea where he got this ridiculous number.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, Johnson is way off: about 5% of hourly workers are paid the minimum wage.  Approximately another 20% more are paid close to the minimum wage.

This doesn't include millions of self-employed people that often make less than the minimum wage.  For example, I'm sure that a lot of dairy farmers in Wisconsin have made less than the minimum wage this past year.
