According to recently released Bureau of Labor Statistics jobs numbers, from Jaunary to February, Illinois added 17,600 nonfarm jobs from January to February-- an increase of .32%. The number of unemployed people also dropped by 10,700.
A BLS press release states released last Friday states:
Over the month, 19 states recorded statistically significant changes in employment. The largest over-the-month statistically significant job gains occurred in California (+96,500), Pennsylvania (+23,700), Florida (+22,700), and Illinois (+17,600).
Meanwhile, BLS reports that during the same time, Wisconsin added 5,200 nonfarm jobs (a .19% increase) and had a slight increase in the number of people on unemployment (increased by 900).
As I've mentioned before, seasonally adjusted jobs numbers are adjusted from the actual number of job numbers, so the reality isn't quite as rosy a picture, but this is much is for sure: Despite all the chest-thumping by Walker and their phony claims of drawing businesses from Illinois, Illinois is clearly outperforming Wisconsin in the jobs game.
And they're doing it with shared sacrifice and without a civil war.
Gee, what a concept.
