Republican State Sen. Randy Hopper's been making a lot of news the last few days -- the kind that increases your name recognition but doesn't do much for your favorability rating.

Seems when folks trying to recall him went to his Fond du Lac door, they were told he doesn't live there any more, but lives in Madison with a 25-year-old girlfriend. There's a divorce in the works, not to mention a recall campaign because of his support for Scott Walker's union-busting agenda.

Amid questions about whether Hopper even lives in his district any more, recall petitions being circulated, and Hopper hiding out from the media, someone has come to his rescue.

GOPAC, the Washington political action committee long associated with Newt Gingrich, has bought TV airtime to help Hopper. And the Newtster's been making a little news himself in the sexual escapades department lately, admitting to affairs while married to Wives No. 1 and No. 2. He's currently on Wife No. 3.

Gingrich, who has an idea he could still run for President, seemed to blame his affairs on being just too darned patriotic and overworked.

But unlike Hopper, at least he's talking to the media.
