Another Wisconsin Voter ID paradox

The Progressive magazine's blog shared this awful little tidbit again proving just how ill-conceived and inconsistent is the Republican Voter ID law:

Tim Casper, public affairs and government relations manager of Madison Area Technical College, raised another excellent point: “If student IDs can be used to register to vote and not as voter ID at the polls, that seems problematic.”

That's more than problematic. Intentionally or otherwise, it's classic bait-and-switch, because students who successfully register with their college ID will have every reason to believe that same ID will get them a ballot on election day. Nope, at best it will get them a provisional ballot, which likely will be thrown out before they can provide additional proof they are whom the state already agrees they are.
