Potifact recently tarred and feathered gubernatorial candidate Mary Burke with a "Mostly False" rating because she said that Wisconsin ranked in the top ten of states with the greatest outbound migration. Politifact checked into it and found that last year's rating was in the top ten, but... AH-HA! ... in this year's ranking, Wisconsin wasn't in the top ten!
According to the United Van Lines' Annual Migration study, Wisconsin missed this year's top ten list by three percentage points, with 54% of interstate movers leaving the state and only 46% moving in.
Yet another great example of the myopic reasoning that often plagues politifact in there pursuit of truthiness. Burke's larger point is that under Walker, Wisconsin has gotten negative national attention for being a top ten state that people are leaving and that's a bad thing. Newsflash: People generally don't sit around and say, "Hey hon, check it: Wisconsin is one of the top states people are leaving faster than rats on a sinking ship... let's move there!"
