Scott Walker's campaign has paid $60,000 to its favorite law firm, Michael Best, and says it is for "compliance."
Dan Bice suggests it's actually for responding to inquiries from a John Doe investigation into possible illegal campaign work by county employees.
In Wisconsin, $60,000 will buy you a lot of what is usually categorized as compliance.
Compliance generally refers to making sure a campaign complies with campaign finance and reporting laws, not John Doe investigations or possible criminal conduct by government enployees.
It's possible the Walker campaign is in non-compliance with state repoprting laws because it is incorrectly identifying what that $60,000 was actually spent on. "Legal fees" might be more appropriate -- and more truthful.
