The final artist in the series will be Chip Abbott on Tuesday April 20th, 2021 from 3:30 to 5:30 pm. Chip Abbott is an NYC based director and choreographer. Chip made his Broadway debut in On the Town and was assistant choreographer, dance captain and swing to the Emmy Award winning Joshua Bergasse (Tony Nominee 2015 for On the Town). His choreography was most recently seen at DanceBreak NYC as one of six choreographers deemed “the next generation of broadway choreographers.” Chip has choreographed at Transcendence Theatre Company and at ACT of CT in their world premiere of a newly adapted version of Working under the artistic advisement of Stephen Schwartz. As a director, Chip created the IAAPA Brass Ring Award winning Dance, Dance, Dance, Heartbeat and The Enchanted Journey at Hersheypark (Best Theatrical Production Worldwide.) He has directed numerous shows for Hersheypark and Azamara Club Cruises in addition to Choreographing for Step One Dance Company on Holland America Line and Transcendence Theatre Company. Chip was assistant director/ choreographer to Tony Yazbeck on the YoungArts Gala 2017 and recently assisted Josh Bergasse with Bernstein at 100 starring Misty Copeland at Wolf Trap with the National Symphony Orchestra, and at Tanglewood with the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Additionally, Chip was associate choreographer of On the Town at San Francisco Symphony. He was most recently seen as a performer in the New Line Cinema movie Isn’t it Romantic starring Rebel Wilson, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory on Broadway. 1st national tours: R+H’s Cinderella, Andy Blankenbuehler’s Joseph… Dreamcoat. NYC theatre: The Radio City Christmas Spectacular. TV/Film: The Tony Awards on CBS, Today Show, Avon’s “Boss Life,” British Vogue, and MAC Cosmetics. He is a member of guest faculty at Steps and Broadway Dance Center in New York City and has taught master classes in schools across the country including PACE University, Oklahoma City University, Point Park University, the Boston Conservatory, and University of Central Oklahoma. Chip is also a contributor to the casting team at RWS Entertainment group and travels the globe casting hundreds of dancers in Australia, the UK, and US. Students will have the opportunity to participate in or observe a musical theatre dance masterclass and question and answer session with Chip.
