Jeffrey Amundson, psychology department UW-Stevens Point, will present "Agricultural Hemp."Did you know Wisconsin was one of the leading producers of hemp for the World War II effort? Do you know why hemp was needed for the war effort? Do you know hemp is not marijuana? Regardless, join us for an hour to explore the history of hemp in Wisconsin. You’ll find out more about the many uses of hemp and its potential positive socioeconomic benefits for our state.Amundson, grew up in Menomonie, WI on his family's dairy farm. He worked in Vermont for a hemp company after graduating from UW-Stout. Currently, Amundson holds a Ph.D. in biopsychology and teaches psychology courses for UW-Stevens Point. As part of his community outreach activities, he presents on various topics focused on understanding the human condition. Lecture attendees are welcome to bring their lunch to the presentation.______________________________________________ Thursdays @ the U lecture series will run throughout the spring semester. The series, partly funded by the UW-Barron County Foundation, will explore topics in the arts, sciences, public affairs, literary fields and cultural areas. While hosting a variety of speakers, the university does not seek to endorse or promote a particular idea, opinion, topic or product over others. These lectures are free and open to the public.
