"Red Cedar 2019: Northwest Wisconsin in Words and Images"several creative writers and artistsUW Eau Claire-Barron County will be celebrating the publication of Red Cedar 2019 from noon-1 p.m. in the Blue Hills Lecture Hall (Ritzinger 234). Red Cedar is published each spring and features the work of creative writers and visual artists. The publication includes poems, short stories, creative nonfiction, photographs, drawings and paintings. During this session, selected authors will read their compositions. Red Cedar was first published in 1999 and dedicated solely to the work of UW-BC students. In subsequent years, it expanded to include works submitted from throughout Wisconsin, including those of authors and artists not directly affiliated with a UW campus. This year, individuals submitting to Red Cedar include UWEC-Barron County students, alumni, faculty and staff along with writers from throughout Northwest Wisconsin. Copies are available free of charge as a service to the community and as part of The Wisconsin Idea that the boundaries of education are the borders of the state. Lecture attendees are welcome to bring their lunch to the presentation.______________________________________________ Thursdays @ the U lecture series will run throughout the spring semester. The series, partly funded by the UW-Barron County Foundation, will explore topics in the arts, sciences, public affairs, literary fields and cultural areas. While hosting a variety of speakers, the university does not seek to endorse or promote a particular idea, opinion, topic or product over others. These lectures are free and open to the public.

Location:
Blue Hills Lecture Hall (Room 234) located in Ritzinger Hall.
