Tea: the OTHER caffeine to be focus of February 27th presentationTyler van Helden doesn’t take tea too seriously. Long gone are the days of tea ceremonies and high-tea brunches. After a decade of drinking coffee intravenously (not really), Tyler has found a seductive story in tea. A treasured and illicit history, tea will no longer be the drink served in just frilly and flowery porcelain pots; but a story of theft, espionage, and sleepy monks. Come join Tyler in discovering the other caffeine, tea. Van Helden’s Feb. 27th presentation “Tea: the OTHER caffeine” will be done jointly with his friend, Heather Haller, owner for the past 12 years of Rice Lake’s Badger Brew Coffee Loft. This lecture/tea-tasting extravaganza will be from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. in the Blue Hills Lecture Hall (Ritzinger 234) on the UW Eau Claire – Barron County campus. It is part of the university’s Thursdays at the U Lecture and Performance Series. Van Helden and Haller will take attendees on a world-wide adventure of tea-making, tea-tasting, and how to do it well at home. The Thursdays @ the U series is free and open to the public, due to financial support from the campus foundation. UW EC-BC is located at 1800 College Dr., Rice Lake.
