To the Moon and Beyond | WisCommunity

Working with partners, international and in private industries, NASA is planning to establish a permanent presence on the Moon, as a first step to venturing further into the cosmos. A continuing presence on the moon will put us within reach of the next major milestone: setting foot on Mars. The presenter, Matthew Coel, is Lecturer in physics and astronomy at UWEC-Barron County. He grew up in Green Bay and received his undergraduate and graduate degrees from Michigan Tech. He lives in Rice Lake with his wife Nichole, his dog Link, and soon-to-be-born child (due in April!) His hobbies include playing Magic: The Gathering, adventuring in Dungeons and Dragons, and enjoying time with his family. This and other sessions of the Thursdays at the U Lecture Series are free and open to the public, thanks to financial support from the campus foundation. Each is held in the Blue Hills Lecture Hall (Ritzinger 234) from 12:30-1:30 on the UWEC-Barron County campus, located at 1800 College Drive in Rice Lake. Neither seating reservations nor parking permits are required for campus guests.
