Indigenous Peoples Celebration | WisCommunity

University of Wisconsin Eau Claire Events

Come celebrate the permanent display of the 12 Tribal Nation flags of Wisconsin on the UWEC-BC campus! The Indigenous Peoples Celebration will be held on October 14th immediately following our "Thursdays at the U" talk on "Missing and Murdered Indigenous Relatives" by a Brothertown elder, Renee Gralewicz. Beginning at 1:30 in our Commons, we will have native refreshments and drumming by the LCO school group. The speakers will begin at 2:00, following a tobacco smudging. Speakers will include Paul Demain, Edmund Manydeeds, and our very own Jon Fritz. The event will conclude with an introduction of each flag. Come enjoy some good food and music and learn more about native communities in Wisconsin. All are welcome to attend and we look forward to seeing you!
