Guest Artist: Elizabeth Moak, piano
Noted for her "sensitivity" and "generous imagination” (La Suisse), pianist Elizabeth Moak has performed throughout the United States (including Hawaii and Puerto Rico) and internationally (Taiwan, France, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, China, Peru, Brazil, and Canada). In addition to awards for her solo playing, Moak is a devoted and Nationally Certified Teacher of Music (NCTM) and is currently on the faculty of the University of Southern Mississippi. Her teaching honors include: a Teaching Fellow at the Peabody Conservatory; the Outstanding Young Faculty Award from Millsaps College; and the Outstanding Teacher Award from the Mississippi Music Teachers Association. Elizabeth Moak has given masterclasses (pre-college and university-level students) throughout the United States, as well as in Taiwan, Peru, Brazil, and China. Moak's students have hailed from the United States, Taiwan, Brazil, Colombia, Peru, Honduras, Venezuela, the Dominican Republic, Romania, China, Japan, and Zimbabwe. Her students have been accepted into summer festivals including the Brevard Music Festival and the Colorado College Summer Festival, as well as into graduate programs such as the Birmingham Conservatoire (England). In addition to securing teaching positions in music schools and universities, her students have also won numerous competitions. This event is free and open to the public.
