University of Wisconsin Eau Claire Events

Thursdays at the U Lecture and Performance Series Around the Farm Table is a program on WI public television that shines a spotlight on Midwestern farmers and artisan food producers. The host, Inga Witscher, is a fourth-generation farmer who owns and operates a small organic dairy farm near Osseo, Wisconsin. When not setting up pastures for their cows to graze, milking the 15 Jerseys, making cheese with her father, or indulging her passions for gardening and cooking, Inga collaborates with her team to develop narratives for Around the Farm Table. After growing up on her family’s dairy farm on the West Coast, then making cheese on the East Coast, she is thrilled to now be in the middle of the country, home to truly happy cows and a vibrant agriculture, all of which she loves to celebrate Around the Farm Table. Inga Witscher will host a session of the Thursdays at the U Lecture and Performance Series on Thursday, September 12th from noon until 1 pm in the Blue Hills Lecture Hall (Ritzinger 234) at the UW Eau Claire-Barron County campus, located at 1800 College Drive in Rice Lake. During this presentation, Witscher will make a Smorgastarta, a Scandinavian-style sandwich cake. She will also talk about the importance of local food and share her own successes and failures as a farmer. This and other presentations are free and open to the public, thanks to financial support from the campus foundation. Lecture attendees are welcome to bring their lunch to the presentation. Lunch is also available by purchase in our Campus Riverside Cafe.
