Menomonie High Embedded Associate's Degree

Menomonie School Board Meeting 11/11/2019

The Menomonie School board meeting of 11/11/2019 discussed the embedded business management associate's degree that will be offered soon. Brian Seguin, director of instruction, assessment, and 4k programming described how this will allow Menomonie High School students to obtain a college degree while they are attending high school. This program is in conjunction with Chippewa Valley Technical College.

In a sometimes-contentious meeting tonight, the full Lafayette County Board let the proposed ordinance to control the release of information on the SWIGG study die for the time being.

Update - I just spoke to board member Kriss Marion. The meeting has ended, and the Land Conservation committee passed the rule with several amendments.

Special Meeting to be held on shortening Solid Waste Facility Hours

We that the hours for the Downsville Solid Waste Transfer center were being shortened as of November 1. It is now clear that this is only the beginning of possible cuts to the hours of county transfer centers.

Live Assembly Floor Session including special session on gun safety

The state Aseembly is currently in session. Governor Evers has called a special session to consider gun safety issues. It is expected that Republican leadership will simply gavel that special session in and then gavel out immediately. This should happen some time after 2 PM. Governor Evers is still hopeful that the Assembly will actually discuss the bills under consideration to force universal background checks and to adopt a Red Flag law.&nbsp

First snowfall bringing accidents - be careful

The Dunn County Sheriff's office is reporting multiple slide-ins and accidents in the county. This always seems to happen in the first measurable snowfall every year as drivers re-tune their driving skills to match the slippery roads. Please be careful as this is likely to become worse as people go home from work tonight.

Menomonie High School on Lockdown - update

Menomonie High School is currently in lockdown. According to news from the Menomonie Police Department and an email sent to parents this morning a scrap of paper was found in the school with an inappropriate reference to a school shooter. The police and school district are not considering this a credible threat and according to social media the hard lockdown has just been changed to a soft lockdown.
