Thursday, April 25, 6-7pm, Jeanne Anderson will provide the history of Happy Island and Old Meridean.
The Chippewa River in Dunn County is host to an island that once was the home of a logging town, called Meridean, and eight farms. Originally about 1800 acres, the island is now a forest plantation owned by Dunn County.
The book, Where the Lilacs Grow: The Story of Happy Island and Old Meridean, tells the history of the island and the people who lived there through stories and pictures.
