At approximately 11:45 PM on Thursday, April 18 the Menomonie police were notified about a social media post indicating that there would be a school shooting at Colfax High School on Friday, April 19. The subject who created the post was held and questioned. The individual has been charged with Terrorist Threats and other charges pending review by the Dunn County District Attorney. The subject was found to be hoping to receive media attention by posting the threat. The police are therefore not releasing the subject's name.
The Menomonie Police reached out to the Colfax schools to notify them of the situation. It is not believed that there is any further danger to the Colfax schools. The Menomonie Police thank the Colfax Schools and Dunn County Sheriff for their help with the case.
